Mothers Day tribute. I have been working on this as an example for class. Cheetah mother and cubs. I like the intertwined bodies and the clear negative spaces.

After noon commute, Jeddah style

this would be the day the camera got left at home. bless the cell phone.

Our driver was all over this situation, making major moves through traffic to get us behind them... and that is a full size, standard bed (for the truck freaks) Toyota PU with a king cab.

homage

My homage to the classic Japanese carp tattoo. This little fish is a result of chatting with my brother James who always has an interesting insight. and mentioning that I was thinking about a new um. tattoo. always a hot topic, the conversation actually started with Alicia when I stated a serious desire for a small laughing carp on the back of my calf.
Alicia vetoed this - not sure if because of the subject matter but definitely the placement. Above is the pre color drawing and the sketch below is the original idea. (I added the uncolored version after several people requested more process - but seriously it's just draw, scan, color)

MerMommy

You all think I didn't take any photos this summer. but that's not true. in fact I have so many that I'm having trouble sorting them into posts. because one really really long one seems the wrong way to go. I thought I would start with the highlights: This is my middle sister Tipper (who will not thank me for this post of her lily white legs :D) and my favorite niece Pearl.

I last saw Pearl in person when she was 9 months old and have had only the pleasure of photos and spoiling her with two presents a year. ( I am buying her all the cool stuff Alicia is too old for - absolutely self serving). So onward posting.

Tipper called and asked Thomas and me to meet her at the Coronado Bay Beach on Sunday. After much late afternoon maneuvering we snagged one and a half parking spaces and hit the beach. Pearl came with the firm intention of burying her mom in the sand. With Uncle Thomas' willing cooperation Tipper was transformed into MerMommy. Tipper is a trouper.

And the close up.....

Arizona State Flower

Alrighty - it's spring break and I'm working on all the projects I normaly don't have the energy for.

  1. 1. I set up my knitting blog - to give people a break from the hard core knitting, charts and master knitting stuff I feel compeled to blog about. casting purls the blog
  2. 2. I set up the home page of the as yet unrealized knitting web site of my dreams - I've had the URL for 3 years. casting purls
  3. 3. I made buttons for my blog. See side bar.
  4. 4. I made a cactus for the 'crochet a long" of a yahoo group I secretly joined.

The cactus is from this link: on second page of topic

I added the flower and the little pot, more about the Arizona State Flower here: Saguaro Cactus

elf on my window sill

Some of you may be wondering what happened to "my trip to Germany". well. a bazillian pilgrims come to KSA every Hajj and for some reason this increases the internet traffic to the point where the free dial up crashes. every year. this time for 10 days. thankfully, for the sake of most of the travelers, after Eid. but. no way to log on at home and finals at school meant no posts.

This little guy (Ansel) traveled from Auerbach to his new home outside my office window.

New Office, in the middle of finals, meant shlepping all of my stuff from one side of the building to the other. I have a view, saddly the clean desk lasted only one day.

More by the end of the day

catnapped

I've been slacking off on the posts. So now I have a months backlog of stuff that needs a place on my blog.

We'll start with the Gwen, who was kidnapped by W's younger sister. Which is understandable given how cute she is, and she did give her back. This made me feel badly for the Gwen deprived. There can be only one Gwen, so after much research (read web browsing) I found the best kitty pattern ever. Here: amigurumi cat. And I am working on a sleepy kitty for little sister. The prototype, Sammy is resting on my television. Crochet is not my strong point and there may be a litter of kitties befor I get one just right.

cheers, more later.
